Easy Christmas DIYs

This year, I added more personal touches to our Christmas decorations while ensuring they complement my store-bought ornaments from last year. These projects are easy to make and can be a last-minute craft idea to make a home cosy for the holidays.

RED BERRY WREATH

Finding the perfect wreath was a bit of a challenge as I had my eye on a lush and dramatic red berry one. Most of what I've seen online were either sparse or too expensive. I thought a DIY wreath might solve the issue. This project took me less than an hour -- if that. There was no need for glue as the twigs could be anchored well by pushing them within the wreath, as shown in my DIY video.

DRIED ORANGE GARLAND

I have always wanted to make my own dried orange garland, and I am glad I did. Our kitchen was filled with warm citrusy festive aroma all day. Although very accessible and doable, this project will require a bit of patience. Depending on how thick the orange slices are and the oven temperature, the drying time can take up to 4 hours or longer. Please do not be tempted to increase the oven temperature. I made the mistake of putting it to 180 C and ended up with toasted oranges — they still smelled amazing. Set your oven to 70 to 100 C at most. Flip multiple times to ensure both sides dry evenly. Once dry, place them on a cooling rack and leave them for a couple of days to dry further.

MUSIC SHEET FLOWER DECORATIVE

My final project is made of vintage sheet music finished with twine for hanging. It is the easiest craft to do and my favourite so far. I can see myself creating more patterns and maybe using old book pages to achieve the same effect. But for now, these lovely florals will surely add a touch of rustic elegance to our festive decorations. Imagine these with fairy lights!
